This interview by Oddworld creater Lorne Lanning over at Gamespot, says the current Net Neutrality issue could easily impact gamers. Mainly with small and indie game shops. As part of their profit will have to eaten up in paying for the 'fast lane' with their MP games. Here is a snip, what do you think? Comment below."My biggest concern is what's happening in the White House with what's happening with the FCC and what's happening with the telecom companies trying to basically get more of all of our pie," Lanning told GameIndustry International in an interview. “These are multinational, [Read More...]

Over at pcgamesn they have a article about the effect of always on DRM when said company goes under and shuts down their DRM services. A chilling domino effect to say the least. Here is a snip, comment below; It’s not just a problem with Games for Windows, either. If a game uses SecuROM activation and SecuROM is having an off-day, you’re out of luck. When I installed Test Drive Unlimited 2 off of Steam, I was instantly plunged into a series of problems. First, a SecuROM window popped up asking for my CD-key. But each time I fed it my Steam CD-key, the activation failed. Then it offered to let me [Read More...]

Over at Rampant Games there is a short commentary blog about the downward spiral of White Wolf. Nothing really new but I would like to add, right before CCP swooped in and bought WW, the CRPG developer Obsidian was inches away from sealing the deal and buying WW. How things would be different if Obsidian, and not CCP bought the WW properties. What are your thoughts?Except for a bit of RPG snobbishness, at least. Which is kinda weird. I mean, seriously? We’re all RPG fans, but you are going to act like you are superior because you play a particularly trendy RPG? No thank you. (I kinda remember [Read More...]

Rock, Paper, Shotgun takes a stroll down memory lane and look back at the impact of Vampire the Masquerade : Bloodlines. A classic in CRPG's in the 2000's. Even to this day has a loyal fan base that pumps out script patches and adding cut content they find in the data files.I still play this game, as it is the best CRPG that emulates the World of Darkness setting the game is based on. Here is a snip, comment below;Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines is a gutsy move. There are many ways in which you can try to underplay the sexuality of the vampire metaphor: Bram Stoker barely sidestepped it, [Read More...]

So OXM had a interview with Bioware developers about the future of Mass Effect. Not a fan of ME to be honest, so I am fairly neutral on the topic. But I know there are rabid fans, and haters, of the property. So hopefully this will instill some hope for the direction Bioware is taking.. or give you more ammo for net rage. Either case here is a snip, comment below!Have you read any of the fan fiction posted online? As someone who works on the team and sets canon, what were your thoughts?DE: Kelly Chambers and Steve Cortez were the two love interests I wrote, and I've always been interested in [Read More...]
